TaZ: "We hope for No.1 spot"
HLTV.org has conducted an interview with ex-Vitriolic man Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas in which he comments on his side's situation and chances at the WCG.
November began with the news that the two-time ESWC champions had exited Vitriolic following the departure of investor and co-manager Ahmed "Nordy" Al Muhanna.
Such a decision means that the Polish giants have been left without an organisation just days before the WCG event, for which they have been drawn in Group G, together with the likes of TyLoo and HiNet-UMX.
In this exclusive interview, Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas discusses his team's chances at the WCG, their relation with MYM and their future.
Your team has been drawn in the same group as Tyloo, F.azer.Z, HiNet-UMX and Nextlevel. What is your opinion about your group?
I think it's a fairly hard group, we know that Tyloo can play very well, and we don't know the other teams too well so we need to be prepared for anything, I just hope we will be able to finish in the top2 of our group but a first place would be a good boost before the playoffs.
How is your team preparing for this competition?
We've been preparing for this event for some time now, after WICKED esports used us and left us on ice, it was the only event we could go to, so we were playing for this event like old times, hehe. We had some disappoinments in Dubai, and we tried to take this lesson to our favour, I just hope that we can play better in China, and get our first good result in Asia.Do you consider yourselves as favourites for this tournament?
Nope, I think that we should take it easy, play our game, have fun, getour fire burning and then we will see what happens. With a bit of luckand good spells we might show some great Counter-Strike.
What are your team's goals for this tournament?
We feel that we are in good form, we have the right spirit and the teamworklooks good, we hope for a No.1 spot, but we will be happy with top3.
Your team's preparation for this tournament has been rocked by news that you have once again been left without a home. When and how did you learn that you would have to look for a new organisation?
We are soooo used to it by now... We got so many words and promises, that everything would be great, that we would have great sponsors and that Vitriolic were behind us 100%, etc. that at some point we really started to think this way, we were like, "maybe this time it will work for real", when we went to Dubai, we had a blast at how Nordy was taking care of us, but then again we had heard so many promises, that when we got the news about Nordy leaving it was a hit for us... we never signed any contracts... and we had been waiting for the promised salary for over a month, we still believed that people would hold on to their word, because we gave our best shot when we represented Vitriolic, and we just hoped that we would be treated the same way... :/ Still there is no hard feelings.
You have been in several organisations since departing PGS, leaving MYM, WICKED and Vitriolic after they all failed to fulfill their promises. Do you think someone has cast a spell on your team or is it just bad luck?
Haha, if someone did cast a spell, please remove the curse! We have already been punished for 10 months, we promise that we will try to be better in CS and as individuals. Maybe it's just bad luck... and maybe the timing was bad for us? But well, I think that we got stronger as a team, at least that's what I hope.
Many people seem to believe that the main reason why you can't get a stable organisation is because of your wage demands after your time at MYM. Is there any truth to these thoughts?
That is not true, the reason why we can't get a stable organisation is that it looks like all they want to is to just use us for a few euros, get their organisation on the map, and then dump us like stock. People should ask how much fnatic, SK, mibr, mouz and mtw are earning, and when they ask us about how much we want they won't believe us.
Has your team been approached by organisations already?
We have got some offers, but we are still open for any talks. :P
After leaving WICKED, you said you would issue a statement on your situation and the whole MYM thing, but nothing has been announced so far. When are you going to comment on these matters?
At this point we are taking legal steps. We will comment on this situation very shortly, we just need to make sure it won't ruin the opportunity to get the money they owe us. It's funny that those people behave like nothing happened, one guy from MYM came to me in Dubai and said "Hi, wanted to chat", and it was one of those guys who had lied to us during our meeting in Germany at the ENC. It's amazing how shameless those people are. We also heard that they have told their players that they have already paid us everything they owed, it's just a rumour, but a funny one!
Do you have any events planned after the WCG?
We want to attend Dreamhack (invite us guys ), Arbalet Cup and I hope that there will be WEM this year. We have got some offers, so maybe we will attend those events.
There are rumours that PGS are interested in having you guys back. Is it true? Would you consider a return to your former home?
First place I hear about it. We have no hard feelings towards PGS, so if the right offer comes up, why not!
